NRCan and Ontario eco-ENERGY
grant programs

     The ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes program of Natural Resources Canada offers grants of up to $5000.00 to owners of single family, detached and semi-detached homes who invest in energy-efficiency upgrades. The province of Ontario is matching the federal program (Ontario Eco Energy) so the maximum grant per home is now $10,000.00. For a house under 2,400 sq. ft. in Ottawa, the first evaluation and customized report costs $350 plus GST but the Province of Ontario rebates $150 so the net cost is just $200. After you have done the upgrades, the follow-up evaluation costs $150.

How to get started?

     First, an eco-ENERGY audit is done on your home to advise you of eligible ENERGY related upgrades that you can make. These can include:

• Heating system
• Cooling system
• Attic/wall/basement insulation
• Hot water system
• Solar systems
• Water conservation
• Doors/windows
• Air leakage (heat loss improvements)
• ... etc
